Matthew Roosevelt Kelly, Jr. was born to Matthew, SR. and Mary Kelly on October 24, 1944 in Walterboro, SC.  He received his formal education in the Colleton County Public School System.

Matthew was employed with Avant Construction Company until he was injured on the job.  Among Matthew's greatest joys was spending time with his family and friends.

He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Johnnie Mae Kelly.  Matthew loved the Lord, and was a faithful member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church until his illness rendered him homebound.

On the morning of Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro, SC, a wise and loving God called Matthew Roosevelt Kelly, Jr. from labor to peaceful, eternal rest.  He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashantay Jenkins; one great-grandson, Khali Kelly, Jr.; a brother, Charles Kelly; and two sisters, Mary Barnes and Carrie Brown.

He leaves to cherish loving and precious memories, his devoted wife, Mrs. Johnnie Mae Kelly; a daughter, Miranda Varner; two sons, Marvin Kelly and Antonio Cordray; three extended family children, Samantha Washington, TRennille Cordray and Chanta Kelly; 18 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; eleven brothers, Billy Kelly, Jospey Kelly, Harris Kelly, Thomas Kelly, Ronald Kelly, Donald Kelly, Earnest (Patricia) Fishburne, Paul Fishburne, Eli Fishburne, Charles Fishburne and John Lee Fishburne; six sisters, Grace Kelly, Glenda Kelly, Laura Kelly, Victoria (John) Green, Diane Delee and Susie Doctor; sisters-in-law, Janie Ruth Manigo and Diane Kelly, and a very, very devoted sister-in-law, Rebecca Kelly; special friend, Sally Isaac; special nephews Jermarius Sumter and Shy'Kem Jenkins; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Matthew R. Kelly, Jr. were held noon on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Walterboro, SC.  Burial was in the church cemetery.  Arrangements were by Allen Funeral Home of Walterboro.i
