Mary Jane Gantt was born March 18, 1966 in Cottageville, SC.  She was the daughter of Mrs. Margaret L. Gantt, and the late Mr. Henry Lee Gantt. 
    Mary was educated in the public schools of Colleton County, SC, and graduated from Walterboro High School in 1986.  She received her CNA license from Beaufort Technical College.  Mary was employed by the Head Start Program as a teacher’s assistant.  She was also employed by Forks Gas Station as a cook, as a custodian for SCDOT, and was an Avon 
    Mary was baptized at an early age at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor A. L. King.  She served faithfully on the choir.  She later joined the Whosoever Will Prayer Band Church, under the leadership of Pastor Elliot Mitchell, where she served faithfully until her health failed.
    Despite her failing health, Mary enjoyed jewelry making, crocheting, and cooking.  She also enjoyed social outings, traveling and talking with her loved ones on the telephone.  
    On the morning of Friday, June 27, 2014, Ms. Mary Jane Gantt passed away from this earthly life at home under the care of Hospice Care of South Carolina.  She was being visited and comforted by family and friends; and was attended by her daughters, Ceria and Devorah at her passing.  She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Lee Gantt; a sister, Lavina Gantt; two brothers, Michael Taron Gantt and Little Master Gantt; her maternal grandmother, Gladys Cunningham; and her paternal grandmother, Mother Margaret Farmer.
    Mary touched many lives and will be remembered most by her daughters, Ceria U. Gantt and Devorah M. Gantt, both of Columbia, SC; her mother, Margaret L. Gantt of Round-O, SC; Carl Henry Gantt; her siblings, Margaret A. (James) Mack of Green Pond, SC; Carl Henry Gantt of Round-O, SC; Tedne A. Gantt of Walterboro, SC; Doris U. Gantt of Summerville, SC; Reginald Gantt of  Jacksonville, FL; Debera M. Gantt of Charlotte, NC; Robert L. (Athina) Gantt of York, PA; Tryone Gantt of Seattle, WA; Demetrius (Tandra) Gantt of Cross, SC; a special nephew, Patrick (Roxie) Mack; a special niece, Destiney C. Neat; special devoted aunt, Cleora Pauls;  and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

  Funeral services 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Wesley Grove United Methodist Church, 907 Wichman St., Walterboro, SC.  Burial in Burr Hill Cemetery, Cottageville, SC.  Arrangements by Allen Funeral Home of Walterboro.
