Franklin Ellis was born on February 17, 1944 to the late Marian  Ellis Pinkney and Wilson Pinkney in Savannah, GA.  He was the oldest sibling of  six. He received his education in the Jasper County, SC School System.  Later, he moved to Newark, NJ and married Theresa Green Ellis.  There he worked in many various jobs. After returning to Ridgeland, he worked for a chemical company.
Franklin was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  He enjoyed his family, and in his spare time he loved to go fishing.
Franklin loved the Lord.  He was a  member of Rock Spring Baptist Church in Grays, South Carolina.
On Saturday, July 19, 2014, Franklin Ellis entered eternal rest at  his home in Ridgeland, South Carolina.  He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Theresa Green-Ellis in 2000;  a son,  Frankie O’Banner, and a brother, Henry Pinkney.
He leaves to cherish his memory: three daughters, Ms. Inez Smith of Newark, NJ, Janie G. Ellis and Ericka V. Ellis both of Ridgeland, SC; one son Xavier Ellis of Newark, NJ. Three grandchildren, Fatiyha, Julian and Sydney; one sister Ms. Lucelle Pinkney of Ridgeland, SC; five brothers Asher (Jerri) Pinkney, Charles Pinkney (Sandra) James Pinkney,  Alex Pinkney and Henry Pinkney, Frank Pinkney (Sylvia);one grand aunt Ms. Suezanne Campbell of Brooklyn, NY;  one special aunt Ms. Ruth Jaudan; four sisters in-law, April Pinckney, Ella M. Nash (Stoney) of Charlotte, NC,  Edna M. Green and Diane Heyward, Juanita Samuels all of Ridgeland, SC; four very special  cousins, Ozzie Jaudan, Edward Jaudan, Lenny Mulligan and Mose Chess; one very special friend Ms. Francis Smith and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Allen Funeral Chapel Complex, 8881 Coosaw Scenic Dr., Ridgeland, SC.  Arrangements by Allen Funeral Home of Ridgeland.
