Conrad Edward Smalls, a man of God, passed away at the age 60 on Friday, September 26, 2014 in Beaufort, SC. He was born June 24, 1954 on St. Helena Island, SC. Conrad was preceded in death by his mother Sallie Deloris Kirkland Smalls; father Herman Smalls; brother Robert Smalls; and sister Corinne Mabel Smalls.
He was educated in the Beaufort Public School System, graduating from Beaufort High in 1972. He attended Orangeburg Tech earning an Associate Degree in Heavy Equipment Operation. He worked for Beaufort County Department of Roads and Bridges for over 25 years retiring as Superintendent of Roads and Drainage South. He was an avid hunter and sportsman. He spent a lifetime coaching and mentoring kids and young men in both football and life.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 33 years, Marlena Mills Smalls; (7) children, Dana McGhee (Sharon) of Charleston, SC; Brandon McGhee (Tonia) of Warner Robins, GA; Tracey McGhee of Charlotte, NC; Marianne McGhee Rice (Kenneth) of Virginia Beach, VA; Marion McGhee of Atlanta, GA; Sumitra McGhee Stewart of Columbia, SC; and Reggie Howard of Hampton, VA; (12) grandchildren; (1) great-grand child; (2) brothers, Clayton Herman Smalls of St Helena Island, SC; Jeffery Lord Smalls of St. Helena Island, SC; (1) sister, Mollie Noelle Smalls Rhinehart (James) of Atlanta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral Services for Mr. Smalls will be held on Saturday October 4,2014 at 11:00am at Old Fort Baptist Church. And vistation will be held on Saturday October 4,2014 from 10:00 until time of funeral. There will be no vistation after the eulogy.

To the Smalls Family,
It is with deep sadness I write to say how much you all have lost a caring and dear family member and friend. "Button", as he was affectionately called, was always smiling and had a kind word for everyone. He was special! It was a pleasure to be around him. I know he will be greatly missed. I will keep you all lifted up in prayer as you go through a difficult time.
