Music by The Piano Brothers

Willie Green, Jr. (“Big June” as he was affectionately known by family and close friends) was born on October 17, 1943 to the Late Willie Greene, Sr. and the Late Geneva Daise-Greene on Saint Helena Island, South Carolina. He was the first born of 6 children. Willie was educated in the public school system of Saint Helena Island and graduated from Saint Helena High School in 1962. Thereafter, he joined the United States Army and served in Vietnam until 1968. He continued his Federal Service as a Civilian Employee until retirement in 2009.

He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of Orange Grove Baptist Church of St Helena Island.

Willie was united in matrimony to Alvena Smalls in 1967 and they remained married for 13-years. To this union, two daughters were born.

He was surrounded by family when he peacefully departed this life on Friday, November 14, 2014 at Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), Charleston.

He was a caring, loving and well-respected friend to all who knew him. Willie loved to be with family and friends; especially when it came to a good cook-out. No matter where he would go, you would always see him with a baseball cap of some kind, a toothpick, and a friendly laugh.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Greene, Sr. and Geneva Greene and two of his siblings Betty Belle Green and Jessie Mae Jenkins.

He leaves to cherish his memories: two daughters, Latricia Yvette Duncan (Glenn, Sr.) of Stafford, Virginia, Willona Deniece Reynolds (Tony, Sr.) of Stafford, Virginia. Five grandchildren, Heaven Nycole Duncan, Glenn Duncan II, A’shya Reynolds, Antonio “TJ” Reynolds II & Alijah Reynolds. Three brothers Oscar Greene (Maria) of Columbus, Georgia, Joe Greene, James Greene (Lethel), a close cousin, Betty White; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, God-children, co-workers, and friends that loved and cherished him dearly.

Funeral service was held on Saturday November 22,2014 at 11:00am at Orange Grove Baptist Church. Visitation was held on Friday November 21,2014 from 6:00-7:00 also at Orange Grove Baptist Church.
