Music by The Piano Brothers

Fredrick Jermaine Gardner, 34, was born October 1, 1981 in Beaufort, South Carolina to the late Betty Scott-Gardner and Fredrick Thomas. Fred was a loving and caring brother, uncle, son and friend; he was affectionately known by family and friends as “Fred or Unci.” He enjoyed music, especially writing and rapping his own lyrics. His passion was the songs in his head and how he “spit the flow.” Fred was well known for making you laugh about what was real for him.
He was educated in Beaufort County Schools and worked for several years in the Hospitality industry. Fred had a few challenges in life, but he was never a quitter, he always strived to reach higher grounds. He had returned to school to complete his education and would be so excited when he got that passing grade. He had a beautiful spirit, was generous, sweet and willing to help anyone even when he wasn’t well.
Fred is preceded in death by mother; Betty Scott (Gardner); one sister, Sharon Scott (Jenkins); one uncle: Jocephus Scott; one grandfather, Cephus Scott.
He is survived by his father, Freddie Thomas; grandmother Roberta Scott, uncle; Lonnie Scott; sisters; Joyce Scott, Jennifer Gardner, of Beaufort, and JoAnne Scott (Iyamu) of Georgia; one brother-in-law Robert Lee Burton of South Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other siblings (Thomas’s).

I enjoyed working with Frederick at Adult Education. He was a joy to sit and have a conversation with, he had some wild stories at times. He will be missed by me and his classmates.

My prayers are with Freddie's family and friends. I grew up with Freddie going to school and hanging out in Port Royal. He always made sure to walk me and any of the rest of us girls home after dark. Such a sweet soul gone too soon. RIP Freddie you will be missed.
