Edward Keith, Jr. was born to Edward and Estelle Brown Keith Sr. in Charleston, SC on July 31, 1935.
A Time to Build:
He received his elementary education at Immaculate Conception School and graduated from Burke High School, Charleston, SC. He entered the United States Army and served three years. He attended Allen University, Columbia where he received a BA. Degree in Social Studies and English. He later attended South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, SC where he received the dual Masters Degrees in Education and Special Education. He also attended The Citadel, Charleston, South Carolina where he received the Specialist Degree in Secondary Administration and Supervision. He has done additional studies at Hampton Institute, East Carolina University, and Savannah State College.
A Time to Labor:
Edward was retired from his much loved profession of teaching. He served the children of Hampton and Beaufort County School Districts for thirty-one years.
A Time to Serve:
He is a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Beaufort, SC. He is the Past Exalted Ruler of S.J. Bampfield Lodge No. 584, Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks of the World (I.B.P.O.E. of W.). He is the former Recording Secretary of the South Carolina State Association, Inner Guard of Region Four, and National Active Exalted Rulers Council.
He is a former member of the following organizations: Omar Temple No. 21 and Ezra Consistory No. 27, (P.H.A.), Savannah, Georgia. Past President of Burning Sands Shrine Club, Beaufort, SC, Hiram Lodge No. 469 (P.H.A.), S.J. Bush Post 207, The American Legion, Beaufort, SC. As well as, National Education Association (retired), South Carolina Education Association (retired), and the Beaufort County Education Association (retired). The American Association of retired Persons (AARP).
A Time to Mourn:
He is survived by his wife Shirley Camacho Keith, three sons,Karl, Jeffrey and Reubin; three grandchildren, Serema. Sarah and Sophia, A host of nieces, nephews, loving relatives, lodge brothers and sisters, nobles and daughters, and friends.
Edward Keith, Jr., 80, of Beaufort County, died Tuesday July 26, 2016, at the Piedmont Medical Center located in Rockhill, South Carolina. Viistation will be held from 5-7 pm Monday, August 1, 2016 at Allen Funeral Chapel (1508 Duke Street, Beaufort, SC). Funeral services will be held 11am Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Bethesda Christian Fellowship (36 Martin Luther King Drive, St. Helena Island, SC). Allen Funeral Home of Beaufort in charge of funeral arrangements.
