Mr. Richard Kannick, Jr., the son of the late Mariah and Richard Kannick, Sr., was born September 15, 1944 on Spring Island, SC.  He attended the public schools of Beaufort County, SC.  Richard was joined in union to the late Sarah Mitchell Kannick of Bluffton, SC.
Richard was a faithful member of Campbell Chapel AME Church until his health failed. He was always willing to lend a helping hand with any maintenance and plumbing work needed around the church and community.  By trade, he was a plumber, electrician and carpenter.  He was employed with the Hilton Head Public Service District (PSD) of Hilton Head Island, SC.
On Monday, February 5, 2018 at the MUSC Medical Center in Charleston, South Carolina, a golden heart stopped beating and hardworking hands went to rest.  God saw that Richard was suffering and would never get well in his earthly body so God closed his weary eyes and whispered Peace be Thine. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Mitchell Kannick; one daughter, Pamela Mitchell; one son, Richard Kannick, III; five sisters: Elizabeth London, Viola Deboise, Daisy Mitchell, Alnetha Medlock, and Sadie Frazier; one brother: Nathan Hamilton; six aunts: Rose L.  Barnwell, Hattie Brown, Virginia Bolden, Romenia Mitchell, Agnes Cannick, and Rose Wilson; and four uncles: Garfield Hamilton, McKinley Hamilton, Lee Mitchell, and Lincoln Cannick.
Richard had a special love for his family and friends and he leaves to cherish his memories, two daughters, Renata Amos, of Bluffton, SC and Katie (Moses) Mitchell, of Levy, SC; one son, Lavernall Mitchell, of Greenville, SC; four grandchildren, Henry (Barbara) Mitchell, Dana Mitchell, Moses Chisolm, Jr., and Takevia Wilson; two great-grandchildren: De’ondrae Mitchell and Ivan Wilson; one beloved sister, Agnes Kannick of Bluffton, SC; three sisters-in-law,  Marian Haynes, Elizabeth Mitchell, and Jacqueline Mitchell of Bluffton, SC; three godchildren,  Leigh Brenda Washington, Tamika Jenkins, and Terrance (Jii) Brown, all of Bluffton, SC; four special nephews, Lincoln Kannick, Willie Louis London, Jr.,  Jonathan Baker, and Daniel Kannick, Jr.; a special cousin, Isaac Bryant; a special friend, James (Jimmy) Baker and a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
