James Jeffery Obituary

James (Jeff) Jeffery, 88, was ushered into Heaven on April 9, 2024, peacefully at his home, surrounded by loving family members and friends. He was born on June 28, 1935 in Ridgeland, SC, the son of Melvin Scott and Mildred Bolden Willis.

On December 24, 1976, Jeff was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Nancy Pringle Atkins.

Jeff lived and worked in New Jersey for many years. He returned to Beaufort in 1997. Upon his return, he settled in Lady's Island, SC. He became an active member of The Lady's Island Baptist Church and was ordained as Deacon. He served on many ministries including: The Male Chorus, The United Voices Choir and The Male Bonding Retreat. He was a regular attendee of Sunday School and loved to sing. He enjoyed & was passionate about his music and loved sharing it with others. Jeff was also a diehard Dallas Cowboy fan.

Jeff received his early education in the Jasper County school district. Throughout his life, he was a dedicated worker and supervisor at Gentek Building Products, Woodbridge, NJ. In 1995, he retired after 32 years of service earning him a plaque for his excellent performance & dedication.

Jeff was a caring husband, father, great and great great grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. Jeff had amazing gift & love for all children and when they met him, they all knew it by that amazing smile & twinkle in his eye.

Jeff was predeceased by his wife Nancy P. Jeffery, daughter Blondell Jeffery and grandson Juwan Jeffery and his four siblings. Redell, George Edward. Bobby Bernard and Bessie Mae.

Jeff leaves to cherish his memories, daughters: Gloria Gadson (Frank), Bluffton, SC. Delores Atkins, Henrico, Va, Deloris Jackson, Columbia, SC. Granddaughters: Althea Chin (Dale), Adrienne Norgrove (Darrin) both of Nazareth, PA, step granddaughter: Shary Monique Jeffery, Burlington, NJ. Great grandsons: Jammas Jeffery (Chantel), Hamilton, NJ, Jah'Bree Jeffery, New Brunswick, NJ, great grand daugter,Corinne Chin, great grand sons, Miles Norgrove, Bryce Norgrove, Great great grandson, Legend Jeffery; Four sisters: Gardenia Smith, Atlanta, GA, Bernice Miller, Miami, FL, Betty Roman (Delman), Lexington, NC, Blondell Simon, New Orleans, LA. Two brothers: John Henry Willis, Miami, FL, James Willis Jr. (Cara), Charleston, SC. Sister-in law, Susan Scott, Aurora.CO. A host of goddaughters, lots of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

James Jeffery, 88, of Lady Island, SC passed away at his home on Tuesday April 9, 2024.  Visitation will be held from 4-6 pm on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at Lady's Island Baptist Church Funeral services will be held 11am Monday, April 15, 2024 at Lady's Island Baptist Church. Allen Funeral Home of Beaufort in charge of arrangements.
