Leslee Theresa Stevenson

Ms. Leslee Theresa Stevenson, 54, of Ridgeland, SC, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, May 18, 2022. Arrangements are entrusted to Allen Funeral Home. We welcome you to provide your thoughts and memories on our tribute wall.

Leslee Theresa Stevenson, was born May 19, 1967 in Savannah, Georgia to Mr. & Mrs. Donald (Emma) Durant Stevenson, Sr. She attended Ridgeland Elementary and Middle School, she graduated from Ridgeland High School, home of the Trojans, in 1985.  Upon graduation, she attended Armstrong State College and studied Nursing for two years.
She later joined and proudly served in the United States Army. She served several tours of active duty. She was a disable Veteran of Operation Desert Storm.
She was a dedicated worker for several years at the United States Post Office in Columbia, SC. She was a member of St. John AME Church in Ridgeland, SC where she served as Class Leader, Usher Board member, Womens Missionary Society (WMS) and Sexton. She started and operated the Food Bank at St. John AME Church and was diligent and consistent in making weekly packaging and deliveries that was done by her committee and completed on time. Her favorite scripture was “Matthew 7:1-5 and it reads, 
 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged.  For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.  ”Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?  How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?  You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
She was an avid traveler and loved to drive and transport people who needed to be carried to various events and appointments within the community.
She was bubbly, positive, cheerful, and fun-loving. Just a few of the words that so adequately describe Leslee’s personality. Her charm would draw you to her, and after each interaction with her she would make you feel important and valued. You were guaranteed to walk away with a smile or laughter. It was the hallmark of who she was, and it was always sincere.
  For many years, as a leader of the local Girl Scouts Troop, she demonstrated her ability to bring young girls together to help them with projects and programs. Her group would always be prepared for projects and competitions, and almost always topped cookie sales around the community. She served as a caregiver for so many, young, old and disabled.  Whenever there was an opportunity to help, she could be counted on to assist. She had tremendous passion for serving.
Also, for years, she campaigned tirelessly for her late cousin’s (The Rev. Dr. Senator Clementa Pinckney) political campaigns. She always knew when elections were coming up and reached out to him and his campaign each term. Again, referring to her charm and personality that drew people to her, she interacted with everybody in his voting district she met. She distributed flyers, pens, and buttons as if she were running for office. Being who she was, she was even not shy to walk into a local convenient store, grocery store, or clothing store campaigning for him with patrons.
The true measure of a human being’s life is not found in the riches they possess, nor is it found in their acquisition of knowledge. Rather, the measure of any human being’s life resides in how they treat their fellow human beings. Did they help someone? Did they bring joy to someone’s life? Did they engage in unselfish tasks? The answer to each of these questions, as it relates to Leslee, is a resounding “Yes!” We should all find great comfort and joy knowing she left this earth helping to make other people’s lives better.
On the evening of Wednesday May 18, 2022, Leslee was called home from labor to reward.
She leaves fond memories to be cherished by: her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Donald D. (Emma) Stevenson, Sr.; her sisters: Wanda Stevenson (the late Donald Randolph) and Hilda Alfreda (Bernard) Stevenson-Stewart; her brothers: Donald D. (Joan) Stevenson, Jr. and Patrick O. Stevenson; nieces: Tiffany (Alonzo) Davis, Shaquanda (Adam) Kinloch and Shalita Stevenson; nephews: Devin (LaKeita) Stevenson, Sr., Lionel Randolph, Sr. and Durant Randolph; grand nieces: Lilian Randolph, Jaylee Moriels, Madison Stevenson, Alana Davis, Alayna Davis, Alena Davis, London Stevenson-Young and Alicia Davis; grand nephews:  Lionel Randolph Jr., Devin Stevenson Jr., Aden Caple, Lamar Randolph, Camren Kinloch and Colton Kinloch; aunts: Mary Blue Stevenson, Mae Frances Stevenson and Dorothy Trapp; uncle: George Taylor, Sr.; special cousins: Shayla Johnson and Johnette (Dexter) Martinez; adopted nieces and nephews: Alexis White, Taylor Bostick, Tori Bostick, Ja’Keara Fyall, Deja Fyall, Aaliyah Pinckney, Aarkell Levine, Dexter Martinez II, Jalaysha Pinckney, Jaiven Martinez and DaJah Martinez; god sister & brother: Mr. & Mrs. Lee (Shirley) Fair; god mother:  Florene Morse; special friends:  Angela Grant-Mack, Betty Cooper, Clara Bostick, Renee Williams, Dolly Habersham and Wanda Flowers; to include a host of other loving relatives and friends.
