Mamie Fripp

Mamie Fripp, 98, of St Helena Island, SC died Friday, September 16, 2022, at her residence with her family at her side. Allen Funeral Home of Beaufort is in charge. 

On Friday, September 16, 2022, Mamie Fripp, a powerful matriarch, and prayer warrior, passed away peacefully at the age of 98. No better scripture describes her than 2 Timothy 4:7-8, "she fought the good fight, she finished the race, she kept the faith. Therefore, there is laid up for her the crown of righteousness which the LORD, the righteous Judge, will award to her on that day". Whether she was in sickness or in health, Mamie believed in the power of healing, and her healing has been made whole in heaven.
Mamie Fripp née Robinson was born on July 4th, 1924, on Hazel Farm. She was the youngest of four children (all brothers) but was unafraid to stand up to any of them. Her Gullah/Geechie heritage was a firm foundation in her cooking, storytelling, and her culture lives on through her recipes and lineage.
Mamie loved to look good and smell better, with her favorite fragrance being a classic, White Diamonds. She enjoyed traveling when she could and had much advice to share. If you knew her, you could not help but to marvel at her vocabulary, her wit, and humor. For many years she served as a member of the usher board at Oaks True Holiness Church but spent her remaining time of service to God as a member of Highest Praise Ministries as the church mother. Mamie enjoyed spending time with her family and most importantly, she loved the LORD.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ezekiel Fripp, and two sons (Louis Armstrong and Edward Fripp). She is survived by her son, Rufus Fripp (Linda), and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She is dearly loved and missed, but her spirit lives on.
