Vivian Morton Obituary

Vivian T. Morton, 77, of Beaufort, SC passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at her residence. Arrangements are entrusted to Allen Funeral Home. We welcome you to provide your thoughts and memories on our tribute wall.

Vivian Theresa Morton, was born on the 5th day of November in 1944 to Donald
and Viola Strother (both deceased) in Fairfax, VA. The family relocated to Beaufort, SC
due to her father being in the U.S. Navy. There, she was educated in Beaufort County
Public Schools. While at Robert Smalls High School, she was known to be a fierce
competitor in basketball. She later decided to complete her education and graduated
from Battery Creek High School.
At a very early age, Vivian was called to discipleship and accepted the Lord Jesus
Christ as her personal savior. She attended various churches throughout her life and
participated in several ministries to include Mother of the Church. Along beside her
husband, she co-pastored a church in her home “Fruit of the Spirit” for several years and
encouraged many souls to receive Jesus Christ. In her later years, she became a member
of Bethesda Christian Fellowship Church on St. Helena Island, where she was a faithful
and well-loved member. Vivian was saddened when covid hindered from attending in-person worship service but
continued to faithfully attend virtual, on-line church service. She was a teacher of God’s Word and lived a God-fearing,
non-judgmental life.
Vivian believed in providing for her family, which led her to work for various employers, to include: Little
Bo Peep Kindergarten (teacher), Beaufort County School District (bus driver), and Beaufort Council on Aging (site
coordinator). She was passionate about her senior citizens and truly cared for them and everyone she worked with. If
someone did not have enough money, she would quickly come out her own pocket to help them. She was very loving
and caring person and each and everything was done from the heart.
Vivian was married in holy matrimony to Freddie Morton, Sr. (deceased) in August 1, 1962. To this union, four
children were born: Pamela (deceased), Melonie, Freddie, Jr. (deceased) and Chris. She was a very devoted wife to her
husband and always a supportive mother.
To know Vivian, was to love her and those who knew her can be sure that they were loved in return. It did
not matter if you were blood related or not, she had a true love for others. She was full of jokes and her laughter was
contagious. She loved cooking for her family. Vivian was known for having the best macaroni and cheese and red
rice around. She was affectionately referred to as “Mrs. Chancellor” by her nieces because they admired her sense of
fashion. Vivian always had a smile on her face, words of wisdom and encouragement for others, and unconditional,
genuine love.
Mother Vivian Morton peacefully answered the Master’s Final Call on August 2, 2022 at her daughter’s
residence. Although, she is no longer here in body, we rest in the assurance that her spirit is now present with the Lord.
Vivian leaves to cherish her memories: Melonie (W.C.) Quimbley and Christopher (Sonya) Morton of Beaufort,
SC; Siblings: Harold (Yvonne) Strother; Georgianna (Dalton) Gordon; Donald (Vera) Strother; and Charles (Carolyn)
Strother; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and caring friends.
